Fountain Valley Engineering Student Selected for D.C. Internship Program

Kate Gasparro of Fountain Valley, a Clemson University sophomore majoring in civil engineering, has been selected to participate in the Washington Internships for Students of Engineering summer internship program in Washington, D.C.

Gasparro is a student in Clemson's Calhoun Honors College.

Gasparro is one of 12 Dixon Global Policy Scholars at Clemson. She also is a Coca-Cola Scholar and a member of the Clemson University Student Alumni Council and the Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Fraternity. She serves as treasurer and Latin American project leader for Engineers Without Borders and vice president of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. Gasparro's internship is sponsored by the American Society for Testing and Materials International.

The WISE program is a paid 10-week summer internship in Washington, D.C. Participants are third- and fourth-year engineering students selected from a nationwide competition. During the program, interns get a chance to observe the public policy process and see how engineers can be involved in making policies.
