Fountain Valley Man Arrested for Allegedly Masterminding Cafe Robbery

Marc Louis Gold of Fountain Valley, who was arrested at his home, was currently on bail from a November Stanton Café robbery.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA — A third suspect in a Santa Ana café robbery was arrested Wednesday, police said. Watch the dramatic footage of the robbery, below.

Marc Louis Gold of Fountain Valley, 21, was arrested at his home and booked on suspicion of robbery, according to Santa Ana police. Gold was currently out on bail for a secondary robbery, similar to the M&Toi Café robbery, which took place in the City of Stanton in late November.

Gold was considered the alleged mastermind of a robbery that involved two 17-year-old boys whose names were not released because of their age, according to Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna. One of the teens, who lives in Westminster, turned himself in on Dec. 2, and the other teen, who lives in Santa Ana, was arrested Thursday, police said.

The teens were booked at Juvenile Hall on suspicion of armed robbery, police said.

Police had released surveillance video of the robbery last month to gin up some leads in the case. An Orange County sheriff's detective tipped police that he thought Gold was the suspect they were looking for, police said.

Gold had been arrested recently on suspicion of a similar robbery in Stanton on Nov. 26, police said.

Gold allegedly sat down at the bar at the M&Toi Café about 3:15 p.m. Nov. 21 and appeared to be sending text messages, police said. About a minute later, two other suspects, who masked their faces with bandanas, entered the shop armed with a gun and a knife.

They demanded that an employee open the cash register, while the first suspect to enter the café walked around to the other side of the counter and grabbed cash from the register and ran out with his accomplices, police said.
