"You have not disappointed in the first 14 years of the event," an OC Marathon Spokesperson wrote on their website. "The runners greatly appreciate the enthusiasm you have shown as they pass through your neighborhoods – the cheering, the candy and fruit, the colorful balloons, the cool mist from a garden hose – all great gestures that make this event so wonderful."

Still, getting to places to cheer can be a bit of a driver debacle. In 2019, the OC Marathon is working with Waze to give drivers the best experiences for navigating around the complex road closures due to the race.

According to organizers, the below alternate routes were in place for Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Corona Del Mar, Promontory Point, Linda Isle, Harbor Island, Dover Shores, and Santa Ana.
