Gas Prices Still Creeping Up

But they're lower than a year ago.

Gas prices continued their upward creep in Orange County over the last week, rising 1.9 cents to an average of $3.74 per gallon of self-serve regular, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

Monday's price was the highest since Nov. 29, although still 2.3 cents less than a year ago.

The Orange County average has risen 30 times in the past 35 days, increasing 19 cents over that span, including seven-tenths of a cent on Sunday.

In neighboring L.A. County, the average price of gasoline rose three-tenths of a cent Monday to $3.769. There, the average price has risen 25 of the past 27 days and 29 of the past 32, including eight-tenths of a cent each of the past two days.

The Los Angeles County average price is the second highest in the state, trailing only San Luis Obispo County, which averages $3.785. The lowest average price was $3.507 in Butte County, north of Sacramento.
