Mayors Make Bet As Ducks Face Oilers In First Of Game Seven

ANAHEIM, CA — It's round two of the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs and the Anaheim Ducks are facing off against the Edmonton Oilers in game one Wednesday night.

To make the stakes even higher, Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait and Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson have agreed to a friendly wager on the best-of-seven series.

If Anaheim wins, Mayor Iveson has agreed to hang a poster from tourism agency Visit Anaheim in Edmonton City Hall, encouraging Edmontonians to visit Anaheim for some warm California sun.

Iveson has also agreed to send a case of Oilers Nation beer, brewed by Edmonton craft brewery Polar Park Brewing, to Mayor Tait's office if the Oilers lose.

If the Oilers win, Mayor Tait will hang a poster from Edmonton's tourism agency, Explore Edmonton, in Anaheim City Hall, encouraging Anaheim residents to visit the natural beauty and culture of North America's largest northernmost metropolis.

Tait will also send a case of craft beer from Anaheim Brewery for Iveson to enjoy.

"We're ready to take on the Oilers," Mayor Tait said. "I'm sure many Edmontonians could use a warm vacation in Anaheim, with all the fun activities we have to offer here. Go Ducks!"

"I can already taste that delicious Anaheim craft beer," Mayor Iveson said. "Round two means double the stakes, and I'm confident I'll win our little wager. We're ready to beat the Ducks! Let's go Oilers!"

The Ducks face the Oilers in game one of the Western Conference Second Round playoffs at Honda Center tonight. The teams' last playoff meetup was in the 2006 Western Conference Final, when the Oilers won the series.
