Waterfront Tavern House Opens In Orange County

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — After a two-week closing for a full redesign and makeover, Tavern House re-emerged this month, in the former Newport Beach locale of the 3Thirty3 restaurant, serving up such "New American" specialties as Honey Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Prime Mishima Ranch Burger, Maple and Bacon Charred Brussels Sprouts, Snapper Veracruzana and Salmon Carpaccio.

The waterfront Orange County eatery is located in Balboa Bay, at 333 Bayside Drive, open nightly for dinner at 5 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for brunch, with such specialties as over-the-top Bloody Marys and Fried Chicken and Waffles. Weekday Happy Hour is 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The former 3Thirty3 originally opened in 2005, now Tavern House Kithen+ Bar, is operated by Southern California restaurateurs David Wilhelm and Gregg Solomon, affiliated with such Orange County and Los Angeles establishments as Kachina, Bistro 201, Barbacoa, Saltwater Grill, Diva, Sorrento Grille and French 75.

Hired to give the former 3Thirty3 an inhouse boost to the new transformation to Tavern House was Lana Helda, an interior designer from Newport Beach. The result was a shift that reflects a lighter, relaxed ambiance, with the restaurant's interior moving from former golds, browns and greens, to shades of blue, gray and cream, with new flooring, lighting, chairs and booths, managers said.

Restaurant hours are: Mondays-Thursdays 4:30 p.m. -11 p.m.; Fridays 4:30 pm.- 12 a .m.; Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m.; Sundays 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
