Zach Zeissner, 11, Loses 14-month Battle against Bone Cancer

A memorial service for the boy will be held Sunday in Huntington Beach.

Zach Zeissner, the 11-year-old Fountain Valley boy who , died Monday at home.

Zeissner was diagnosed 14 months ago with osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer that started in his knee and leg. Fountain Valley Fire Department battalion chief Tony Coppolino, heard about the boy's condition and took it upon himself to rally the rest of the department, which held a to help raise money for surgery to remove the cancer and insert metal rods in Zeissner's leg.

Nicola Weiss, always a tireless force for philanthropic efforts in Fountain Valley, also took the lead in other fund raising efforts, futher spurred on by the friendship between Zeissner and her own son. and David Truong of were also major contrubutors to the fund raising efforts.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel at Huntington Beach First Christian Church, 1207 Main St.
