Update: Only Scattered Outages Left in East Bay

Tens of thousands of customers lost power at one time or another, but most electricity has been restored.

EAST BAY AREA, CA — PG&E crews have gained the upper hand on power outages that plagued the East Bay on Friday.

Problems ranged from downed power lines or broken power poles, to blown transformers. Scattered over the course of the day, tens of thousands of customers were without power for varying time periods.

All week, PG&E crews prepared for the storm, cutting branches that threatened power lines.
