Best Cities for Gamers: Fremont Makes Top 10

Lots of smartphone owners and high quality internet in Fremont make the city a top spot for gamers.

FREMONT, CA — Fremont is the seventh-best city in the United States for gamers in 2021, personal finance website WalletHub reports.

The study compared the 100 largest U.S. cities, evaluating each city’s gaming environment, internet quality and coverage, and gamer and developer opportunities. This year, WalletHub’s rating of gaming environments also included data on COVID-19 cases and deaths, and each city’s percentage of vaccinated residents.

Fremont had the third-highest percentage of adults owning a smartphone and the fourth-highest percentage of households with a broadband connection—two important factors for mobile and online gamers, and fans of gameplay streaming on Twitch and YouTube.

In addition to the events and amenities for gamers, WalletHub also looked at a city’s opportunities for education and employment in the gaming industry.
