Chabot freshman duo wins NorCal track titles

Alexander takes pole vault, Connolly triumphs in Steeplechase; Johnson sets school 100-meter mark

Chabot College freshmen Patrick Alexander and Zach Connolly earned individual titles in the CCCAA Northern California Championships on May 11 at Sacramento City’s Hughes Stadium.
Alexander, a Washington High graduate, had a winning mark of 14 feet, 9 inches in the men’s pole vault, and Connolly, a Redwood Christian graduate, was first in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase in a time of 9:57.44.
Chabot’s Roman Johnson of Mt. Eden blazed to a school-record time of 10.34 seconds to take second in the men’s 100 meters. He eclipsed the Chabot mark held by Mike McRae (10.35) by one one-hundredth of a second.
Johnson won his qualifying heat in a time of 10.63.
The Chabot men finished eighth in the team standings with 38 points, and the Chabot women were 17th with 12 points.
The CCCAA State Championships are May 18-19 at Bakersfield College.
Alexander, Connolly, Johnson and Mckinnon all qualified for the state meet.

Chabot’s Conner Mckinnon finished eighth in the men’s 800 meters in 2:02.22 after running 1:55.75 in his qualifying heat. Thomas Gallagher was fifth in the men’s 5,000 (15:56.57). Sebastian Andersson was eighth in the 10,000 (34:08.81).

In the Steeplechase, Chabot’s Arman Pabla was seventh (10:30.55). Chabot’s Timothy Bernal was seventh in the long jump (6.51 meters).
On the women’s side, Chabot freshman Jamie Guzman was second in the 400 hurdles (1:07.90) and fifth in the 100 hurdles (16.02).
