City Approves Regional Dispatch Agreement
All 911 calls will be fielded by the Consolidated Dispatch Center at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

The Fremont City Council approved a formal contract agreement with the Consolidated Dispatch Center at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory last week, according to the Fremont Bulletin.Â
Tuesday night’s decision formalizes an informal agreement established 10 years ago.
Per the agreement, all 911 calls in Fremont will be fielded through the Consolidated Dispatch Center, which also provides service for Paramedics Plus, Alameda County Fire Department, Alameda County EMS Agency and other emergency service providers. The cities of Pleasanton and Livermore are the latest to partner with the dispatch center, the Bulletin reports.

According to the Bulletin, dispatchers at the center will interview callers to see what their needs are before dispatching emergency units.
The process would not create a lag time, Fremont Fire Chief Geoff LaTendresse said.

The City Council agreed to pay $451,338 from the Fremont Fire Department budget to pay for the Consolidated Dispatch Center services, according to the Bulletin. The cost is based on the volume of calls for service the city receives.
The agreement expires in Jan. 2018 but the City Council will have to approve the budget each year, a city business manager told the Bulletin.
