Chase Through Fremont Results In Assault Suspect's Arrest

All eastbound lanes on a major Fremont street have reopened and a suspect is in custody following a crash Tuesday morning.

FREMONT, CA — A police chase through Fremont on Tuesday resulted in a man's arrest on suspicion of assault and weapons charges, one day after he had eluded officers trying to pursue him, according to police.

Marquice McClinton, 33, didn't pull over when officers tried to stop him on Monday, according to the Fremont Police Department. A brief pursuit ensued but was quickly called off.

At 7:46 a.m. Tuesday, officers tried to pull McClinton over, but he led police on a six-minute pursuit along city streets, according to police. He crashed into an occupied car on the intersection of Mowry Avenue and Civic Center Drive, where police disabled his car and arrested him.

McClinton was medically cleared at a hospital and arrested on suspicion of multiple weapons violations, assault with a deadly weapon and evading.

The collision and subsequent investigation briefly shut down all eastbound lanes on Mowry between Paseo Padre Parkway and Civic. Police were able to clear the area by 9:26 a.m.
