FREMONT, CA —A wrong-way driver who was killed in Fremont on Tuesday night in a head-on collision that also injured another driver was identified by the Alameda County coroner's bureau today as 43-year-old David Oracio Lopez of Santa Clara.
The California Highway Patrol said Lopez was driving a 2007 Mazda north in the southbound lanes of state Highway 84, north of Thornton Avenue, at about 10:25 p.m. on Tuesday when he struck a 2013 GMC head-on.
Lopez died at the scene. The other driver, a 35-year-old woman from Hayward, was transported to a hospital with minor injuries, according to the CHP.
