Fremont Man Arrested In Albany

Police seized a handgun, a high-capacity magazine, and 29 bullets.

FREMONT, CA — A suspicious vehicle check on a residential street in Albany early Wednesday morning led to the arrest of a Fremont man on weapons violations, police said.

Officers noticed an occupied vehicle parked in the 900 block of Evelyn Avenue at 2 a.m. and contacted the four occupants. While talking to them, an officer saw a handgun on the floor in the back seat.

The four were ordered out of the vehicle and officers collected the handgun, which had a high-capacity magazine containing 29 rounds, police said.

Officers also found "multiple bags of marijuana and a wallet that did not belong to the occupants of the vehicle," police said.

Officers arrested 18-year-old Jose Esparza of Fremont on multiple weapon violations and released an adult and two juveniles at the scene.
