Fremont Man Dies In Scuba Accident

His body was recovered off Sonoma County on Saturday.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA - The Sonoma County Sheriff's office has identified the diver who died at Salt Point State Park Saturday afternoon as Mark Alcott, 51, of Fremont.

Alcott was scuba diving with a friend in Gerstle Cove South about 200 feet from shore when his friend went to his aid and found him unconscious, unresponsive and partially submerged with his face underwater, sheriff's Sgt. Orlando Rodriguez said.

The friend tried to remove him from the water but Alcott sank out of sight in 30 to 50 feet of water.
