Fremont Man, Facebook Engineer, ID'd In Bicycle Fatality
Kiranjot Deol, 28, was struck and killed early Wednesday as he rode his bike in Fremont.
FREMONT, CA — A bicyclint who was struck and killed early Wednesday morning in Fremont has been identifies as 28-year-old Kiranjot Deol, a Fremont resident who worked for Facebook as a software engineer. He had been with the company since 2013.
Facebook officials expressed sadness Thursday when they learned of Deol's death. "We were incredibly saddened to hear of Kiranjot's passing," Facebook spokesman Anthony Harrison said in a statement. "We are offering our support to his family at this difficult time."
Kiranjot was traveling north on Boyce Road between Stewart Avenue and Auto Mall Parkway at about 5:10 a.m. Wednesday when a vehicle driven by a 25-year-old man struck and killed him, according to Fremont police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques.

The driver stopped, cooperated with investigators and submitted to blood tests. The collision remains under investigation, Bosques said Thursday.
