Fremont Man ID'd Following Deadly Crash

The crash happened Wednesday night on Stevenson Boulevard.

FREMONT, CA — A motorcyclist who was killed in a collision with an SUV in Fremont on Wednesday evening was identified by the Alameda County coroner's bureau on Thursday as 29-year-old Joel Vieto of Fremont.

The collision occurred on Stevenson Boulevard between Fremont Boulevard and Paseo Padre Parkway at about 7 p.m. Wednesday and Vieto was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The SUV driver, a 44-year-old Fremont man, wasn't hurt in the collision but a female passenger suffered injuries to her leg and was transported to a hospital for treatment, according to Fremont police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques.

The SUV driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police, Bosques said.

It doesn't appear that alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision, according to Bosques. — Bay City News
