Fremont Native Karen Chen Secures USA Skating Spots For Olympics

Chen, 21, skated at the 2021 World Figure Skating Championship in Stockholm's Ericsson Globe Friday.

FREMONT, CA – Fremont native Karen Chen is on her way to the Olympics for the fourth time, following a near-perfect performance Friday that secured three spots for Team USA.

Chen, 21, skated at the 2021 World Figure Skating Championship in Stockholm's Ericsson Globe Friday to the song "Butterfly Lovers" and earned her career-best free skate score of 134.23 and a total score of 208.63, according to Team USA.

In 2017, Chen also secured three spots for Team USA with her fourth place win at the World Figure Skating Championships in Helsinki, sending the team to PyeongChang in 2018.

She placed third behind Bradie Tennell and Amber Glenn at the 2021 U.S. Figure Skating Championships.
