Gunman Scares Off Fremont Park Visitor: Police

Police arrested a Hayward man, accusing him of several crimes.

FREMONT, CA — Fremont Police arrested a Hayward man suspected of brandishing a gun at a Fremont park visitor last week.

A man said he parked next to another car at Northgate Community Park on April 1 shortly before 5 p.m., when the driver of the other vehicle became upset and allegedly showed a gun.

The victim immediately left the park, located in the 34000 block of Rowland Drive, and called police.

Officers responded and took 30-year-old Adrian Valenzuela into custody. During a search of the suspect's car police found a loaded handgun under the driver's seat, and cocaine packaged for sales, police said in a release on social media.

Valenzuela was booked into Santa Rita Jail on suspicion of possession of a concealed/loaded firearm, possession of cocaine for sales, brandishing a weapon and criminal threats.

His arraignment is set for Monday at the East County Hall of Justice.
