Legendary Guitar Instructor Offers Classes at Ohlone College

Doug Torres continues his 49 year legacy of classical guitar instruction at Ohlone College this Thursday.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to play guitar? Perhaps you already know how to play and just want to level up your abilities by studying classical technique. This Thursday evening at 6:30pm is your ideal opportunity to break out of the 9-5 rat race and study classical music with Ohlone College’s resident guitar maestro, Doug Torres.

It’s hard to believe that Doug Torres has been a professor at Ohlone College since the Fall Semester of 1969! A lifelong Fremont resident, it was Doug’s dream to establish a premier university level classical guitar program for his hometown community college. So every Thursday evening, for nearly fifty years, Mr. Torres has been lugging his nylon string Martin classical guitar up the steps at Ohlone College to inspire a love for classical guitar in all who attend his classes. Not only has Doug Torres achieved recognition from the UC and CSU systems, he has received world wide acclaim for the scores of music professionals who started their careers in his classical guitar class at Ohlone College.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity! Class begins Thursday, January 31st at 6:30pm in Fremont Portable 11 on the main campus of Ohlone College. Interested students can sign up on the first night of class but space is limited so don’t wait too long to signup. For more information and to register, visit the web advisor at https://www.ohlone.edu and search for MUS-161A-01.
