Man Sentenced to Five Years in Stabbing

Patrick Kulp, 41, of Oakland, stabbed a man inside a Fremont home in April 2012.

 

An Oakland man was sentenced to five years in state prison Monday in connection to an April 2012 stabbing.

Patrick Kulp, 41, received the sentence after pleading no contest to one count of assault with a deadly weapon in court last month, according to the Fremont Police Department.

Kulp was initially charged with attempted murder in the April 7, 2012 case.

According to Fremont police, Kulp stabbed a 25-year-old man inside a home on Doleria Avenue in Fremont. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for cuts to his throat and forearm.

Kulp, who was wanted for parole and burglary warrants, fled the scene before officers arrived.

Fremont’s SWAT team tracked Kulp down on July 24 and arrested him near the intersection of 19th Avenue and Martin Luther King, Jr. Way in Oakland.
