Man Shot in Leg While Walking Down Street

The victim was not cooperative with investigators.

A 33-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg after being attacked while walking down the street Monday night, police said. 

Officers responded to Washington Hospital at about 10:30 p.m. to interview the victim.

The victim said he was a gang member and that he was attacked while walking in the area of Roberts Avenue and Blacow Road.

According to Fremont police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques, two suspects were standing on the corner of the intersection and yelled at the victim, then ran toward him. The victim ran away and jumped over a fence when the suspects opened fire, the victim told police.

About five shots were fired and the victim was wounded in the right calf, according to Bosques.

The wound is not life-threatening.

The victim was not cooperative in providing additional details, police said.
