Man Stabbed, Another Hit With Shovel in Fight

Neither sustained serious injuries.

 

A Fremont woman’s ex-husband and new boyfriend got into a fight Saturday night that left one with minor stab wounds and the other with a head injury from a shovel.

According to the Fremont Police Department, officers were sent to a home on Essanay Avenue at around 11:30 p.m. to investigate a report of banging and screaming.

Arriving officers found a man outside of the home suffering from a blow to the head by a shovel. The assailant was seeing running to a home next door.

Officers set up a perimeter and the suspect eventually surrendered. He had minor stab wounds but did not require medical attention.

The man who was hit with the shovel was taken to a local trauma center.

Police said the fight broke out after one of the men vandalized the other’s car.

Police determined both men to be victims and released them.

The case was sent to the District Attorney’s office for review.
