Much Anticipated Tesla Model X Unveiled Tonight

Upward swinging falcon doors and speeds of 0 to 60 in 3.8 seconds among the highlights.

Bay area based automaker Tesla Motors launches its much heralded Model X SUV tonight at a private event held at its Fremont factory.

Tesla, with administrative offices in Palo Alto, reports that 20,000 customers have put a deposit on the electric crossover, with the first customers buying the $132,000 ‘Signature series’ getting their vehicles, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

With seating for seven, a 250-mile charge range, and a top speed range of 155 mph, the Model X is expected to appeal to a broader range of buyers.
