Ohlone Weekly Recap: Men's Basketball Has Sturdy Bench

Renegades get lift from variety of players in Jonathan Wallace Memorial

The Ohlone men’s basketball team showed excellent depth in an 86-79 win over Modesto Junior College on Nov. 10 in the Jonathan Wallace Memorial Tournament.

“We got really good contributions off the bench from Jaylen Edmonds and Mitch Undy,” said Renegades coach Steve Kline, who earned his first victory as Ohlone’s new head coach after serving as an assistant.

Edmonds had four steals and Undy amassed 11 points and seven rebounds. Kimarje Trent had a big game off the bench with 19 points, six assists and five rebounds.

In the balanced effort, Aidan Graham contributed 12 points and Felipe Marasigan had eight points and 10 boards. Kaleb Smith came off the bench to score 11 and grab eight rebounds.

Ohlone (1-1) also dropped its opener in the tourney, falling to San Joaquin Delta 63-52 on Nov. 8. Smith led the way with 17 points and Graham had 12 rebounds.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

The thin Renegades (0-3) were led by Bri Padilla’s 19 points in a loss to Gavilan on Nov. 6.

In a loss to Hartnell on Nov. 10, three Renegades reached double-digit scoring: Jessica Titus (15 points), Sahaj Kaur (10), Nae Daniels (10). Padilla had eight rebounds.

MEN’S WATER POLO

The Renegades finished a notable season with a 24-15 loss against Modesto in NorCal Regional Playoffs on Nov. 9. Aidan McBride had a big game with four goals and three assists and Evan Farley also had four goals to share the team high.

Nathan Clark had three goals and an assist. Xander Pereira had a team-high four assists to go with two goals.

SOCCER

The Ohlone men’s soccer team finished the season with a 5-0 loss against West Valley. A scheduled game against Foothill was canceled due to poor air quality.

The Ohlone women’s team finished with a loss to Chabot, 2-1, on Nov. 6. Priscilla Alvarez scored for the Renegades off an assist from Krysten Baumann.
