Pedestrian Killed In Fremont Identified

The pedestrian was hit on Paseo Padre Parkway on Aug. 18.

FREMONT, CA — A pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle in downtown Fremont earlier this month was identified by the Alameda County coroner's bureau on Monday as 30-year-old Ramon Atkins of Hayward.

Atkins was struck by a vehicle in the 39200 block of Paseo Padre Parkway in front of the Gateway Plaza mall at about 11:50 p.m. on Aug. 18 and died at the scene before he could be transported to a hospital, police said.

An 18-year-old Fremont woman who was driving the vehicle that struck Atkins was cooperative with investigators, who don't suspect that intoxication was a factor in the collision, according to police.
