Remodeling Project Starts At Animal Shelter

The Tri-City Animal Shelter will be unable to accept self-surrenders through October.

FREMONT, CA — The Tri-City Animal Shelter will begin a remodel and construction project on Monday, Aug. 20, to improve the lives of the animals staying at the shelter. The project will include new kennels, a redesign of the front lobby, a new cat habitat and many other upgrades to the shelter.

The shelter will remain open during the scope of the project, but the remodel will cause a smaller number of kennels and cages available until the end of October. While most services will still be provided, the Tri-City Animal Shelter will be unable to accept self-surrenders and will provide community members a list of optional locations they can take their pets.

Due to the limited kennel space, the Tri-City Animal Shelter is working with outside agencies, foster families and rescue groups who are actively helping place and find homes for several animals. The primary need at this time is to find homes for cats and kittens; the shelter currently has more than 100 cats and kittens available for adoption.
