Rotary District 5170 Announces New District Governor 2020-21
Embracing new RI Presidential theme "Rotary Opens Opportunities"
SAN JOSE, Calif. –JULY 6, 2020-- Following a successful wrap up year led by DG Ramesh Hariharan, Rotary District 5170 today announced and officially inducted Gregg Giusiana as District Governor 5170, 2020-21, and member of the Rotary Club of Gilroy.
“One of the most amazing things about Rotary is that every July our organization of 1.18 million members has a complete change of leadership,” said Gregg Giusiana.
“This changing of the guard happens in every club in every district all around the world. Today it is happening in our District 5170 in all 61 clubs. The most remarkable part of all this, is how smooth the transition of leadership occurs.

Last year, Governor Ramesh had a record-breaking year, in fund raising, membership growth and club development. We have an extremely high bar to reach. District 5170

“This past year has been successful indeed and many Rotarians made it possible and having Gregg Giusiana now at the helm of District 5170, there will be more achievements and milestones to come,” said past District Governor, Ramesh Hariharan.
ABOUT GREGG GIUSIANA
Gregg Giusiana has been a Rotarian for over twenty years. He served Rotary District twice as Assistant Governor and Lieutant Governor. He is a past recipient of the Richard D. King Award and Sydney R. Mitchell Rotarian of the Year Award.
He is a long time Gilroy resident and among his many community activities, he is past president the the popular Gilroy Garlic Festival, past chair of the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce and was selected as Gilroy’s Man of the Year in 2015.
He worked for the Gilroy Police Department for 34 years, the last ten as Chief of Police.
He is currently Vice President of Academy Services at South Bay Regional Public Safety Training in San Jose. He has a Masters of Pubic Administration from San Jose State University.
Gregg and his wife Chris, who is a Morgan Hill Rotarian, have three grown children and three grandchildren. He joined Rotary as a Career move and then stayed for the fun.
