A total of 59 pets have been adopted from the Tri-City Animal Shelter as a result of a holiday promotion offering free adoptions, and the promotion still has another day to run, Fremont officials said Friday.
Since the promotion started on Dec. 3, 59 pets have been adopted, 44 have been placed with rescue groups and 35 were returned to their owners, officials said.
However, many other animals still need homes, officials said. The promotion continues through Saturday, and all adoption fees, including the cost of spaying or neutering, rabies vaccine and microchip will be waived.
Fremont residents will still need to pay the cost of a pet license. The Tri-City Animal Shelter is open Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m.
