Heads up! Here are five events taking place in and around Fremont this week that you don’t want to miss.
"Wherever There's a Fight" Author Visits Fremont Library
Elaine Elinson, co-author of "Wherever There’s a Fight: How Runaway Slaves, Suffragists, Immigrants, Strikers, and Poets" will discuss the book and highlight civil rights struggles in Alameda County Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Fremont Main Library. An accompanying exhibit will run through Nov. 2.
Domestic Violence Counselor Training
Local nonprofit SAVE (Safe Alternatives to Violent Environments) offers a 40-hour domestic violence counselor training program, allowing potential counselors to work with those affected by domestic violence as SAVE volunteers. The trainings will be held every Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for the next seven weeks, beginning this Friday. Learn how you can get involved here.
12th Annual Olive Festival
Join the Dominican Sisters this Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Old Mission San Jose olive grove for food, children's games, classic cars, craft beers, wine tasting, cooking demos and, of course, olives. There will also be raffle prizes, live music and other entertainment. The event is FREE.Â
Music at Mission Coffee
The Carolyn Sills Trio hits Mission Coffee this Saturday night at 7 p.m. Enjoy their sultry 1940s and 50s pop sounds and western swing joints for $15 at the door.
Sunol AgPark Pumpkin Patch and Harvest Festival
Pick pumpkins and strawberries, enjoy a farm tour, take a bird walk and watch garden demonstrations at the Sunol AgPark Harvest Festival this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The agricultural park is located at 505 Paloma Way in Sunol.
