Two Suspects Try to Steal Copper Wire from Brookvale Shopping Center Rooftop
One of the suspects, a 35-year-old transient, was arrested. The other managed to escape.

Police arrested a suspect and attempted to locate another suspect who were interrupted while attempting to steal copper wire from a shopping center rooftop in Fremont on Tuesday morning, police said.
At about 5:45 a.m. on Tuesday, police responded to a report that two men were acting suspiciously at the Brookvale Shopping Center, located on Fremont Boulevard near Tamayo Street.
Police said a man was seen on top of a roof at the shopping center talking to another male suspect on the ground.
Officers responded to the shopping center and made contact with the man on the ground. At that point, the suspect on the roof fled the scene.
According to police, the suspects were attempting to steal copper from the rooftop.
According to PG&E, the damage is estimated to be $10,000.
The man who officers contacted was identified as a 35-year-old Fremont transient. He was arrested for felony vandalism and for possession of a controlled substance, police said.
Officers set up a perimeter to search for the second suspect, but he was not located, police said.
The incident remains under investigation.
