Vaccine: Nursing Home Residents Receive Coronavirus Shots
CVS reports that it can administer 20 to 25 million shots per month, as long as the vaccine is provided.

EAST BAY — CVS has administered the first round of COVID-19 vaccine doses at 499 skilled-nursing facilities in California, with second doses well underway, the company announced on Monday.
In addition, on Jan 11, CVS began vaccinations at 14,557 California assisted-living and other long-term care facilities. Over the next week, the vaccine rate should rise to 60 percent at the facilities.
While a list of sites here in the East Bay is not immediately available, facilities here were among the locations on their schedule.

Nationwide, CVS has reached some 8,000 facilities.
“We’ve administered nearly two million shots to one of our most vulnerable populations through onsite and, in many cases, room-to-room visits,” said Karen S. Lynch, CVS Health. “Our dedicated health care professionals are reaching long-term care residents and staff as soon as possible based on activation dates selected by the states, while navigating the challenges of a complex rollout.”

CVS reports that it has the capacity to administer 20 to 25 million shots per month, as long as it is supplied with the vaccine. Vaccines in stores will be offered on an appointment-only basis via CVS.com or through the CVS Pharmacy app. Vaccines are not yet available at local stores.
“Our impact at retail will be significant given our presence in communities across the country and more than 90,000 pharmacists, licensed pharmacy technicians, and nurses who will proudly take part in the vaccination effort,” Lynch said.
CVS has more than two dozen stores in the East Bay.
