Why Winter Sunsets Are So Beautiful

Yes, there's a reason why the sunsets are so incredible this time of year.

By Kari Hulac/Patch

If you've recently noticed some extra spectacular sunsets coloring the Bay Area's skies (or at least your friends' Facebook posts), you're not imagining anything.

This is the best time of year to enjoy a daily feat of nature that many folks are usually too busy to even notice.

You can thank our Canadian neighbors, or at least their weather patterns, for the stunning reds, oranges and pinks that will stop you in your tracks.

The clean dry air that sweeps down from Canada across the United States in the fall and winter allows more colors of the spectrum to make it through to our eyes without getting scattered by particles in the air. (Read more on that from the experts at the Weather Channel here.)

Or, just take a minute to step outside and enjoy the show.

If you have photos of sunsets — or anything else around Fremont — share them on our open photo blog, Focused on Fremont.
