Wind Gusts Up To 50 MPH: NWS
A wind advisory has been issued: worrisome for fire departments as the drought intensifies across the Bay Area drying out grasses and trees.
EAST BAY, CA — The Bay Area could see wind gusts up to 50 mph, the National Weather Service warns, as it issues a wind advisory that will be in effect from 5 p.m. Wednesday until 5 a.m. Thursday.
Winds that strong could bring down tree limbs and nearby power lines, NWS cautions. Drivers of high profile vehicles and those pulling trailers are also urged to use extra caution.
Most of the East Bay will be impacted including the hills, Mt. Diablo, and all of the cities along the I-880 corridor.

The wind advisory is especially worrisome for fire departments as they brace for wildfire threats. This has been the driest rainfall season since 1977, and the drought ups the chance of devastating wildfires. Some departments are expected to have increased staffing in place to counter the threat.
