2-Year-Old In Fresno Shoots Himself In Head, Dies

FRESNO, CA — A 2-year-old boy is dead after police say he managed to get his hands on a gun and shot himself in the head in Fresno. It happened Saturday afternoon in a bedroom of his home, media outlets reported.

The child's parents were not at the home at the time and the boy was in the care of family friends, according to reports.

“At the time that this occurred, there were two adults inside the home with the child. Neither of them are the child’s parents,” city police Lt. Rob Beck told KFSN-TV.

The child was breathing when officers arrived. He was taken to a hospital where he died.

Authorities are trying to figure out who the gun belonged to and how the child was able to get a hold of it.
