CA Mall Shooting: Police Search For Suspects, Victim Flees

A shooting at a California mall on Saturday night sent panic shoppers scurrying for cover as the victim and suspects fled the scene.

FRESNO, CA — Shoppers at the Fashion Fair mall in Fresno were sent into a panic Saturday night after gunshots were fired inside the building, according to multiple reports. Both the victim and the suspects fled the scene.

Fresno Police said the shooting followed a confrontation between several men, the Fresno Bee reported. A fight reportedly broke out between about seven men between the ages of 18 and 25, witnesses told police.

After hearing gunfire, panicked shoppers started running toward the exits, with many screaming and crying, the Fresno Bee reported.

"Some people were crying,” Knevelbaard said. “Everyone was just running, just dropped everything and ran. I saw tables with cellphones on them because everyone just ran out.”

A manhunt for the suspects was still underway on Sunday, and police believe the incident was gang-related, the Fresno Bee reported.
