Calif. Starbucks Customer Uses Chair To Foil Robbery Attempt

Video shows the brave customer who stopped the would-be robber using nothing more than a chair and courage.

FRESNO, CA — A robbery suspect clad in a Transformers mask was arrested on suspicion of robbery and other felony charges after a Starbucks customer fought with the would-be robber using a chair and some serious guts, according to multiple media reports. The intense incident, which was caught on surveillance camera, unfolded inside a Fresno Starbucks on July 20.

According to KTVU, the masked suspect, who appeared to be armed with a gun and knife, demanded cash at the register, prompting customer Cregg Jerri to take matters in his own hands using nothing but a chair and courage. A melee ensued as Jerri and the suspect fought inside the store.

The video shows a nearby Starbucks employee, who appeared to be in shock as she watched the fight. Police said the suspect, later identified as Ryan Michael Flores, 30, fled the business but was arrested a short time later. Read the full CBS Fresno story here.
