Fresno County Fire: 1 Structure Destroyed, Evacuation Order Lifted

The Silver Fire started just before 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

FRESNO COUNTY, CA - A fire burning in Fresno County prompted evacuations Wednesday evening, Cal Fire officials said. The Silver Fire, which started just before 4 p.m. Wednesday is burning in the area of Elwood Road and Silver Lane.

The fire has burned about 58 acres and one structure so far. It is about 68 percent contained. Mandatory evacuations were underway Wednesday on Highway 180 and Silver Lane. All evacuations have been lifted.

The deadly wildfires raging in Northern California have left at least 23 people dead and many people injured. The massive fires have been fueled by dry weather and howling winds, devastating the region and charring tens of thousands of acres. The fires continued to burn in Napa, Sonoma, Solano, Yuba, Butte, Nevada, Calaveras and Mendocino counties — with more evacuations ordered late Tuesday evening in multiple affected counties.
