What:   Fresno Unified will provide extra literacy support over the summer for elementary students, including sending new books home with students

The district has planned several initiatives for improving the reading skills of elementary students over the summer and preparing them for a full-time return to campuses in August. Programs include:

“We know that literacy is the key to success for our students. These extra reading opportunities will help fill in gaps for our elementary students and prepare them for the next grade,” said Superintendent Bob Nelson.
