Pleasant Fire Burns More Than 2,250 Acres In Inyo County

The blaze started Sunday afternoon.

INYO COUNTY, CA — A fire in Inyo County that burned more than 2,250 acres was 15 percent contained as of Monday morning, fire officials said. The Pleasant Fire was reported in the area of Pleasant Valley Dam Road and Highway 395, north of Bishop at 2:12 p.m. Sunday, according to Cal Fire. Officials said high winds are hampering the firefighting efforts of the 400 firefighters assigned to the blaze.

Evacuations are in place for Brockman to Highway 6, including the Highlands, Chalkbuff, and Meadow Creek areas, and Pleasant Valley Campground.

The Bishop Tri-County Fairgrounds, located at 1234 Fair Street in Bishop, is open as an evacuation center to families and animals who are being displaced.
