1 SJ Man Died, 4 South Bay Passengers Hurt In Hwy. 101 Crash
The man lost control of his vehicle at 4:18 p.m. Saturday where the major highway meets SR-85 near between Morgan Hill and S. San Jose: CHP.

MORGAN HILL, CA — A 20-year-old San Jose man died and four others injured in a crash Saturday afternoon when the driver whose identity is undisclosed lost control of his vehicle where U.S. Highway 101 and State Route 85 intersect, the California Highway Patrol Gilroy reported. He died at San Jose Regional Medical Center.
Of the four injured, Jose Almaraz, 44, of Santa Clara, who was riding in the 2014 Kia Forte involved in the fatal, was also transported to San Jose Medical. The other three San Jose residents riding in a 2011 Lexus RX350 were transported to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and identified as 36-year-old Manqi Zhao, 35-year-old Ke Xu and 6-year-old Florence Zhao, CHP indicated.
CHP Gilroy officers responded to the crash at 4:18 p.m. on northbound Highway 101 at the SR-85 off-ramp and determined the Kia was traveling at a high rate of speed to the right rear of the Lexus when it swerved and hit a concrete divider as well as the Lexus that ended up facing southbound in the northbound lanes, CHP added.

Alcohol or drugs was not considered a factor in the crash, according to CHP.
