Authorities ID Morgan Hill Man, 22, Killed In Highway 101 Crash
Authorities identified the 22-year-old Morgan Hill man who died early Sunday in a crash on Highway 101 in San Jose.
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — A man who died early Sunday morning in a crash on U.S. Highway 101 in San Jose was identified Monday as Esteban Ontiveros Jr., according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.
Ontiveros, a 22-year-old from Morgan Hill, was pronounced dead at the scene after being ejected and struck by another vehicle in a multiple-vehicle collision at about 12:40 a.m. Sunday along northbound Highway 101 near Bailey Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Ontiveros was speeding in a 2010 Hyundai Accent when he crashed into the rear of a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander. The Hyundai spun out and was struck on its right side by a 2019 Freghtliner Cascadia big-rig, which caused the Hyundai to overturn and catch fire.

Ontiveros was ejected from the vehicle and struck by a 2012 Mazda 3. He died at the scene.
