Court Issues More Warrants in Marijuana Cultivation Case

The two additional suspects are now fugitives.

Investigators have identified two additional suspects related to , according to the Gilroy Police Department.

The two suspects, 33-year-old Ruben Chavez and 25-year-old Shannon Davey, are Gilroy residents. Both have warrants issued for their arrest and are fugitives. Police said Chavez should be considered dangerous, because of his recent possession of a firearm. 

Neither Chavez and Davey were at the scene of the house fire at 7723 Laurel Dr. on July 29 that led firefighters to uncover what police estimated to be more than $100,000 in mature marijuana plants, police said.

Chavez is charged with felony possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, cultivation of marijuana and possession for sale of marijuana, with a bail of $50,000. 

Davey is charged with felony cultivation and possession for sale of marijuana, with a bail of $20,000.

Three people were arrested at the scene: Veronica Chavez, 39; Alicia Chavez, 60; and Manuel Fonseca, 26, were booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of cultivation of marijuana, sales of marijuana and criminal conspiracy.
