Dean Dupuis Wins Celebrity Showdown
Dupuis took top honors in the Iron Chef-style match.

With a series of southern dishes, Oakland Chef Dean Dupuis took home top honors and $5,000 in the Gilroy Garlic Festival’s Garlic Showdown on Sunday.
In the Iron Chef-style event, four competitors, all professional chefs, created dishes based off of a mystery ingredient. This year, the ingredients were Romanesco broccoli and Silva sausage.
Dupuis, from Oakland’s Pican Restaurant, received $5,000 for his first-place finish.

“Do I actually take that check?” joked Dupuis when presented with the giant prize.
