
HOLLISTER, CA - Two relatively minor earthquakes struck north and south of Hollister Wednesday morning, exactly the same respective distances from the city, according to authorities.
At 8:53 a.m., a magnitude 2.6 temblor struck near Hollister, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The epicenter was measured to be 16.8 mi away, northeast of Hollister.

Less than three hours later, a slightly larger magnitude 3.1 earthquake struck near Hollister according to the USGS. This temblor was reported around 11:43 a.m.
Again, according to the USGS, the epicenter was 16.8 miles away. This earthquake struck south-southeast of Hollister.

The quakes were located along the San Andreas Fault.
