Gilroy City Councilman Dies

GILROY, CA — Paul Kloecker, has died, city officials said Friday. Kloecker, 82, served on the council from 1983 to 1993 and rejoined it in 2016. "He was a dedicated public servant and was committed to the community in many ways to include serving on many commissions and committees throughout the years," city officials said in a news release.
Gilroy Mayor Roland Velasco said Kloecker's "leadership, dedication and commitment to public service was always focused on improving the quality of life for the community."
"The City Council and I are thankful for the opportunity to have worked with Council Member Kloecker and for all of his contributions to the city," Velasco said.

Kloecker passed away Thursday and his death is believed to be from natural causes, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.
The city will share information about services for Kloecker when available, City Administrator Gabriel Gonzalez.
