GILROY, CA — A cold weather shelter opened in Gilroy this week, city officials said.

The Armory Winter Shelter (8490 Wren Ave.) opened Monday and will be open through April 15.

City officials said this is a 24-hour shelter and that those seeking referrals are asked to go to visit the Gilroy Compassion Center (370 Tomkins Court) Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Center can be reached at (408) 763-7120 to schedule a phone meeting.Referrals can also be made by calling the shelter hotline number at (408) 278-6420, Monday through Friday until 6 pm each day.
