Gilroy Community Meeting Tuesday To Review Aftermath

The federal and state governments want the community's feedback to review how to have the city heal following the Garlic Festival shooting.

GILROY, CA — A community meeting to review the needs of Gilroy citizens in the aftermath of the Garlic Festival mass shooting on July 28 is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at the city's community room located at 7301 Hanna St., the police department reported.

A federal consultant and state representative from California Victim's Compensation Board is gathering the citizen feedback as a means to overcome the tragedy with a non-competitive grant designed for victims and survivors.

The shooting killed four people including the gunman as well as injured 20.

The meeting is being billed as another way for the tight-knit community to heal and remind one another of the goodness that still exists in the community.
