Gilroy Homeless Encampment Disperses Amid Cleanup Fear: Report

The Gilroy Dispatch reported that while the sweep was postponed, homeless services helped residents disperse the area.

GILROY, CA — Residents at a homeless encampment near the southbound Highway 101 onramp at 10th Street in Gilroy moved out on Friday as Caltrans warned of a cleanup effort this week, according to the Gilroy Dispatch.

The Dispatch reported that while the sweep was postponed, homeless services helped residents disperse the area and there were about 20 people remaining as of Friday morning.

Caltrans reportedly was concerned about vehicles parked on the property, and residents have complained about trash and safety hazards due to the growing encampment.
