GILROY, CA — The Gilroy Library will serve as a cooling center on Wednesday and Thursday to help residents through the heat wave that is expected to roll into the Bay Area later this week.

Temperatures in Gilroy are expected to hit 100 degrees on both days before “cooling” down to 90 degrees on Friday and dipping gradually over the weekend. It is the Bay Area’s first heat wave as summer nears.

The library’s “cooling center” hours will be from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., according to the city. The library is currently open for service with social distancing protocols.
